Tips to Keep Your Union City Business Safe from Fire Damage

1/17/2024 (Permalink)

Protecting your business from fire damage is crucial for its continuity and safety. Implementing preventive measures can significantly reduce the risk of fires and minimize potential losses. From conducting regular inspections to creating an effective evacuation plan, there are several key strategies that businesses can employ to protect their premises and assets from the devastating impact of fire incidents.

Understanding these tips, taking proactive steps, and knowing how we can assist with all of your fire damage restoration needs is essential for ensuring the safety and security of your business operations.

Hold Fire Drills

Conducting fire drills at your business is crucial for ensuring the safety and preparedness of employees in the event of a fire emergency. These drills simulate real-life situations, allowing everyone to practice evacuation procedures and familiarize themselves with escape routes.

By regularly rehearsing these protocols, employees become more confident and responsive in handling emergencies, reducing panic and confusion during an actual fire. Fire drills also provide an opportunity to identify any weaknesses in the evacuation plan, allowing for necessary adjustments to enhance overall safety measures.

Check the Fire Alarms

Regularly checking the fire alarms at your business is vital to ensure their functionality and reliability during emergencies. These alarms serve as the first line of defense, alerting occupants to potential fire hazards and enabling prompt evacuation.

Routine checks guarantee that the alarms are operational, minimizing the risk of failure during a critical situation. Maintenance and testing not only comply with safety regulations but also instill confidence in employees that the necessary precautions are in place, fostering a safer work environment overall.

Keep Fire Extinguishers Close

Having fire extinguishers readily accessible in a business is crucial for immediate response and containment of small fires. They serve as invaluable tools in the initial stages of a fire outbreak, allowing trained individuals to suppress flames before they escalate.

Placing fire extinguishers strategically throughout the premises ensures quick access and empowers employees to take swift action, potentially preserving extensive damage and protecting lives. These devices are indispensable components of fire safety, providing a critical defense until professional help arrives.

Declutter

Decluttering plays a pivotal role in fire safety for businesses by reducing potential fire hazards and facilitating safer evacuation routes. A clutter-free environment minimizes the risk of fires sparked by combustible materials and prevents obstacles that could impede swift evacuation during emergencies.

Clear, organized spaces not only enhance overall safety by also allow for easier access to firefighting equipment and exits. Regular decluttering practices ensure a more manageable and safer environment, significantly lowering the likelihood and impact of fire incidents within the premises.

Regular Inspections

A regular inspection at your business is critical for maintaining fire safety standards and identifying potential hazards. These inspections help ensure that fire suppression systems, alarms, extinguishers, and other safety equipment are in optimal working condition, ready to respond effectively in case of an emergency.

Conducting routine checks also allows for the identification and mitigation of fire risks, such as faulty wiring, blocked exits, or flammable materials improperly stores. By proactively addressing these issues, businesses can significantly reduce the likelihood of fire incidents, protecting both their assets and the safety of employees and customers.

Mold Prevention 101: Tips to Keep Your Home Mold-Free

1/4/2024 (Permalink)

Keeping your home mold-free is more than just a matter of cleanliness - it's about protecting your family's health and the integrity of your living space. Mold, a common yet potentially harmful intruder, thrives in damp, dark environments, and preventing its growth requires proactive measures. In this guide to mold prevention, we'll explore simple yet effective tips and strategies to fortify your home against mold infestation. From moisture control techniques to regular inspections, discover the key steps to maintain a healthy, mold-free environment for you and your family.

Watch the Humidity Levels

Monitoring humidity levels in your home serves as a pivotal defense against mold growth. High humidity creates an ideal breeding ground for mold, fostering its development on various surfaces. By keeping an eye on regulating indoor humidity, typically maintaining levels below 60%, you can prevent mold growth and moisture accumulation - which is what mold spores thrive on. dehumidifiers, ensuring proper ventilation, and promptly addressing leaks or condensation issues not only create a less hospitable environment for mold but also hinder its ability to take hold and become a major issue.

Create Good Air Flow

Establishing adequate air circulation within your home acts as a powerful deterrent against mold formation. Good airflow facilitates the dispersion of moisture-laden air, preventing it from settling and creating pockets of dampness where mold can grow. Proper ventilation, such as using exhaust fans in bathrooms and kitchens, allows humid air to escape, reducing the moisture content in the environment.

Also, promoting air movement through open windows or utilizing fans aids in drying out surfaces prone to exposure to mold and moisture accumulation, making it challenging from mold to find the sustained damp conditions it needs to grow. Ultimately, improved airflow not only helps maintain lower humidity levels, but also discourages the onset and proliferation of mold, contributing to a healthier home.

Find & Fix Leaks

Discovering and promptly addressing leaks in your home is paramount in the battle against mold damage. Leaks, whether from plumbing, roofs, or windows, introduce moisture into areas that are otherwise dry, providing a breeding ground for mold growth. Swiftly fixing these leaks prevents the continual ingress of water, thereby eliminating the sustained dampness mold requires to thrive. Timely repairs to water leaks not only halt the immediate moisture but also mitigate the risk of structural damage and the potential spread of mold throughout your home, protecting both your property and those living inside of it.

Call a Restoration Company like SERVPRO

If you've found significant water damage in your home, it's better to call a restoration company like SERVPRO right away. Our team can get there ASAP to dry, restore, and ensure that your property is back to preloss condition and to avoid any mold growing.

Mold has the capacity to generate allergens and irritants, posing potential health problems. Its rapid spread within your Hoboken residence or commercial space can occur within a mere 48 hours. Should you suspect a mold issue in your home or business, our team can conduct a thorough inspection and evaluation. In the event of mold presence, we possess the necessary training, tools, and proficiency to effectively address and remediate the mold infestation.

The Most Common Indoor Molds

Several types of molds commonly thrive indoors. Some of the most prevalent indoor molds include:

  1. Cladosporium: Found on fabrics, carpets, and wood surfaces, it's one of the most widespread outdoor molds that can also infiltrate indoor environments.
  2. Penicillium: Often discovered on materials with water damage, like insulation, wallpaper, and carpeting. It can produce strong musty odors.
  3. Aspergillus: This mold can grow on dust, building materials, and damp surfaces. Some species of Aspergillus can cause health effects.
  4. Alternaria: Commonly found in damp areas like showers, sinks, and basements, it's known for causing allergies and asthma symptoms.
  5. Stachybotrys chartarum (black molds): Often associated with water-damaged buildings, this mold can grow on materials with high cellulose content (like drywall), potentially producing mycotoxins.

These molds can trigger an allergic reaction, respiratory issues, and in some cases, more severe health issues. Removing and preventing mold growth is crucial for maintaining a healthy indoor environment.

Our Mold Remediation Process

Every mold infestation is different, from the amount of mold to the types of materials affected. Each scenario requires a unique solution, but the general process stays the same. The steps listed below illustrate our process for a "typical" mold remediation infestation:

Tips to Protect Your Home from Water Damage this Winter

12/19/2023 (Permalink)

As winter approaches, it's crucial to be prepared for potential water damage in your home, which can be caused by a variety of cold weather-related issues. Frozen pipes, ice dams, overflowing gutters, melting snow, leaky water heaters, and condensation are common culprits during the winter months. To protect your home, it's essential to take proactive measures.

In this blog, we will explore practical tips to protect your home from these winter water damage threats. By understanding the causes and implementing preventive strategies, you can minimize the risk of costly and inconvenient water damage, ensuring your home remains safe and secure throughout the winter season.

The Most Common Causes of Water Damage in the Winter

The six most common causes of water damage in the winter include frozen pipes, ice dams, overflowing gutters, melting snow, leaky water heaters, and condensation. To understand a bit more, let's jump into each of these to explain more.

Frozen Pipes

Frozen pipes pose a significant risk for water damage during the winter months. When temperatures drop, water inside can freeze, causing them to expand and potentially burst. As the ice blockage inside the pipe expands, it exerts immense pressure on the pipe walls, leading to cracks or ruptures.

When the ice thaws or when pressure builds up due to the blockage, it can result in a sudden release of water. This can cause extensive damage to walls, ceilings, and floors, leading to flooding, structural damage, and even mold growth if not promptly addressed.

How to Protect Against Frozen Pipes?

Preventing frozen pipes during winter is crucial to avoid potential water damage and costly repairs. One effective method is insulating both exposed and vulnerable pipes with pipe sleeves or heat tape, especially in unheated or poorly insulated areas like basements, attics, and crawl spaces. All exterior openings where cold air might seep in, such as cracks and gaps, should be sealed to maintain a warmer environment around the pipes. During really cold weather, allow faucets to drip slightly; the continuous flow of water can prevent them from freezing. Keeping your home consistently heated, even when you're away, helps maintain a stable indoor temperature as well.

For pipes located in cabinets, open the doors to allow warm air circulation. It's also advisable to disconnect garden hoses and drain outdoor faucets before winter sets in. Taking these preventive measures can significantly reduce the risk of frozen pipes and the potential water damage they can cause further issues like mold growth, structural problems, and more.

Ice Dams

Ice dams can cause significant water damage during winter by blocking the natural flow of melting snow from the roof. When warm air inside a home rises and melts the snow on the roof, the water trickles down until it reaches the colder eaves, where it refreezes and forms ice dams. As these dams grow, they prevent melted snow from properly draining off the roof.

Consequently, the trapped water can seep beneath shingles, damaging the roof, insulation, and ceilings. Eventually, this can lead to leaks, water stains, and even structural damage if left unaddressed.

How to Protect Against Ice Dams?

Preventing ice dams involves a combination of insulation, ventilation, and proactive maintenance. Adequate attic insulation helps maintain a consistent roof temperature, preventing snow from melting unevenly. Proper ventilation, such as ridge and soffit vents, allows cold air to circulate under the roof and expel excess heat, reducing the likelihood of ice dams.

Additionally, sealing air leaks in the attic, especially around chimneys, vent pipes, and light fixtures, can prevent warm air from escaping and melting snow on the roof. Prompt removal of snow from the roof using a roof rake after heavy snowfall can also minimize the chances of ice dam formation. By addressing these factors, homeowners can significantly reduce the risk of ice dams and the subsequent water damage to their homes.

Overflowing Gutters

Overflowing gutters can cause considerable water damage during winter months by preventing proper drainage of melting snow and rainwater. When gutters are clogged with debris or ice, water accumulates and spills over the edges, saturating the foundation, walls, and landscaping below. In freezing temperatures, this pooled water can freeze, leading to ice dams and additional blockages in the gutters. As a result, water can seep into the interior and exterior of the home, causing structural damage, mold growth, and deterioration of the foundation.

How to Protect Against Overflowing Gutters?

Preventing overflowing gutters involves regular maintenance and proactive measures. Cleaning gutters at least twice a year, ideally before winter and after fall, helps remove leaves, debris, and other blockages that can impede water flow. Installing gutter guards or screens can also minimize the accumulation of debris, reducing the frequency of cleanings. Ensuring that gutters are properly pitched towards downspouts aids in efficient drainage as well.

Regularly inspecting gutters for signs of damage, such as sagging or leaks, and repairing them promptly can prevent overflow. Additionally, extending downspouts away from the foundation and ensuring they discharge water onto sloped surfaces or drainage systems can further prevent damage caused by overflowing gutters.

Taking these proactive measures helps maintain proper water flow, protecting your home from potential water damage and associated problems.

Melting Snow

Melting snow can pose a significant threat of water damage during winter, especially when accumulated snow turns into water and seeps into vulnerable areas of a home. When snow accumulates on roofs, it can melt due to rising temperatures or heat escaping from the house. If proper insulation and ventilation are lacking, melted snow can penetrate through roof shingles, leading to leaks, water stains, and potential structure damage. Additionally, as snow melts, the water can saturate the ground around the foundation, increasing the risk of basement flooding.

How to Protect Against Melting Snow?

Preventing melting snow is not possible, as it is a natural occurrence during warmer winter days. However, homeowners can take preventive measures to minimize the damage caused by melting snow. Proper insulation and ventilation in the attic help maintain a consistent roof temperature, reducing the likelihood of snow melting unevenly and forming ice dams. Regularly clearing snow from the roof's edges using a roof rake can prevent excessive accumulation and minimize the risk of leaks.

Additionally, ensuring that downspouts are clear and directing melted snow away from the foundation can prevent basement flooding. While you can't stop snow from melting, these precautions can help manage the water flow and protect your home from potential water damage.

Leaky Water Heaters

Leaky water heaters can be a significant source of water damage during winter months. As the temperature drops, the metal in the water heater tank contracts, potentially causing cracks or gaps that result in leaks. Even a small, unnoticed leak can lead to significant damage over time, saturating floors and nearby walls. Prolonged exposure to moisture can weaken the structure, foster mold growth, and further damage belongings. Regular inspection of water heater for signs of corrosion, rust, or pooling water is crucial.

How to Protect Against Leaky Water Heaters?

Preventing leaky water heaters involves regular maintenance and vigilance. One of the key steps is checking the pressure relief valve periodically to ensure it is functioning correctly. Draining the tank at least once a year helps remove sediment buildup, which can contribute to corrosion. Insulating the water heater and its pipes can prevent condensation, reducing the risk of rust formation. Routinely inspecting the tank, connections, and pipes for any signs of moisture or corrosion is essential. If you notice even minor leaks, addressing them promptly can prevent larger issues.

Consider installing a drip pan under the water heater connected to a drain to contain potential leaks. Regular professional inspections can also catch problems early, preventing major damage and ensuring the longevity of your water heater.

Condensation

Condensation in winter occurs when warm indoor air meets cold surfaces, leading to formation of water droplets. This moisture can accumulate on windows, walls, and ceilings, potentially causing water damage. Over time, continuous condensation can seep into porous materials, promoting mold growth, rot, and structural deterioration. Inadequately insulated attics and poorly ventilated spaces are particularly susceptible.

How to Protect Against Condensation?

Preventing condensation involves managing indoor humidity levels and ensuring proper ventilation in your home. To reduce humidity, use exhaust fans in bathrooms and kitchen, and consider using a dehumidifier if necessary, especially in basements. Properly insulating your home can help maintain consistent temperatures and prevent warm, moist air from melting cold surfaces. Make sure to seal any gaps or cracks in walls, windows, and doors to prevent outdoor air infiltration.

Additionally, improving ventilation, such as using ventilation fans or opening windows periodically, can help remove humid air and allow fresh, dry air to circulate. Properly ventilated attics and crawl spaces also play a crucial role in minimizing condensation. By addressing these factors, you can effectively prevent condensation and the potential water damage it can cause within your home.

SERVPRO Honors First Responders During its 12th Annual First Responder’s Bowl

12/18/2023 (Permalink)

SERVPRO of Hoboken/Union City is excited to announce that this year’s SERVPRO® First Responder Bowl, the only college football game dedicated to honoring first responders, is scheduled to take place on Dec. 26th at Southern Methodist University’s (SMU’s) Gerald J. Ford Stadium. The First Responder Bowl is an NCAA post-season college football bowl game played annually in the Dallas, Texas area. The game can be watched live on ESPN at 4:30 p.m. CT.

“SERVPRO Team Harvey is proud to be a part of an organization dedicated to honoring these heroes. First responders go above and beyond the call of duty to protect our loved ones and deserve to be honored. Often in our line of work, we can’t do our job until these heroes have done theirs. It’s only after first responders provide lifesaving support that we can go about putting our customers’ lives back to normal,” said Lance Harvey, Owner/President of SERVPRO of Aberdeen/Holmdel.

Each year in preparation for this game, SERVPRO® franchises are asked to reach out to local first responders to gather nominations for the annual Award of Excellence. Nominees eligible for the award are first responders who have done something remarkable during the nominating year, and include first responders who have been injured, mentors, retirees, and fallen first responders. The recipient of the award wins an expense paid trip to the game where he or she is publicly honored.

This year, the Award of Excellence will be given to a team rather than to an individual. Causes of Fires During the Holidays

12/4/2023 (Permalink)

The holiday season, filled with festive decorations and gatherings, brings warmth and joy to homes across the world. However, amidst the celebrations, there are various potential fire hazards that can pose a significant risk to both property and lives.

Christmas trees, candles, holiday lights, fireplaces, and space heaters are some of the biggest culprits. It is crucial to be aware of these potential fire triggers and take necessary precautions to ensure a safe and joyful holiday season for everyone. We're here to tell you a bit more about these hazards but also explain how we can help with your fire damage restoration needs. Let's talk about fire damage, smoke damage, and more!

Oh, Christmas Tree

Christmas trees, while beautiful symbols of the holiday season, can pose a significant fire hazard if not handled and maintained with care. The combination of dry needles, electrical lighting, and heat sources can turn a festive centerpiece into a potential disaster. As the tree dries out over time, it becomes increasingly flammable, making it susceptible to catching fire from faulty wiring or overheated bulbs.

Once ignited, a Christmas tree fire can spread rapidly, engulfing an entire room within seconds and putting lives and property at risk.

To minimize this hazard, it is essential to keep the tree well-watered, inspect and replace damaged lights, and never leave the tree unattended, especially when decorative lights are on. Being mindful of these precautions can ensure that the joy of having a Christmas tree doesn't compromise safety during the holiday season.

Candles

During the holiday season, candles are frequently used to create a warm and festive atmosphere, but they can quickly become a fire hazard if not handled with caution. The combination of decorative candles, holiday festivities, and increased indoor activities raises the risk of accidents. Candles placed near holiday decorations or in the proximity of combustible materials can easily ignite, leading to potentially disastrous fires.

Additionally, when multiple candles are lit together, the risk escalates as the close proximity of open flames can result in rapid fire spread. To prevent such hazards, it's crucial to place candles on stable, non-flammable surfaces, away from decorations, curtains, and other flammable objects.

Always supervise lit candles, extinguish them before leaving the room, and consider using flameless LED candles as a safer alternative to enjoy the holiday ambiance without the risk of fire.

Holiday Lights

Holiday lights, while enchanting and festive, can pose a significant fire hazard if not used and maintained properly. Overloaded electrical circuits, damaged wires, or faulty bulbs can lead to electrical sparks and fires.

When left unattended or placed near flammable materials like curtains or dry foliage, these sparks can quickly escalate into a dangerous blaze. Additionally, the heat generated by incandescent bulbs can dry out natural decorations, increasing their flammability.

To minimize the risk, it's essential to inspect lights for any signs of wear and tear, avoid overloading electrical outlets, and turn off decorative lights when leaving the house or going to bed. Opting for LED lights, which emit less heat, can also reduce the likelihood of fire accidents during the holiday season.

Fireplaces

Fireplaces, synonymous with cozy winter evenings, can become unexpected fire hazards if not used and maintained cautiously. Creosote buildup in chimneys, resulting from burning wood, can lead to chimney fires, causing flames to escape and potentially ignite the roof or nearby structures.

Improperly installed or damaged chimney liners can also allow heat to reach combustible parts of the house, posing a significant risk. Sparks and embers can escape through an open fireplace or poorly fitted doors, igniting flammable materials in the vicinity.

It's vital to have regular chimney inspections and cleanings, use a spark guard, and ensure proper ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide buildup. Practicing responsible fireplace usage and adhering to safety guidelines are crucial to enjoying the warmth of fire without the risk of a hazardous one.

Space Heaters

Space heaters, while providing much-needed warmth, can be potential fire hazards if not used with caution. These portable devices, if placed too close to combustible materials such as curtains, bedding, or furniture, can quickly ignite a fire.

Additionally, faulty wiring or damaged electrical cords in space heaters can lead to electrical sparks, causing nearby flammable items to catch fire. Lack of proper ventilation or overheating can also escalate the risk, especially in enclosed spaces.

To minimize these hazards, it's essential to keep space heaters at a safe distance from any combustible materials, ensure they have a tip-over switch that turns off the heater if it falls over, and never leave them unattended. Regular maintenance, proper usage, and following manufacturer's guidelines are crucial to prevent space heaters from turning into dangerous sources of fire in homes.

Winter is Coming Checklist

11/23/2023 (Permalink)

As the crisp winter air settles in and snowflakes begin to fall, it's essential to ensure that your home is ready to withstand the challenges of the season. A winter-ready home not only keeps you warm and cozy but also protects your property from potential hazards brought by snow, ice, wind and extreme cold.

From insulating your windows and doors to preparing your heating system, this checklist will guide you through essential tasks that will safeguard your home against the winter chill. By taking proactive measures, you can enjoy the beauty of winter from the comfort of your warm and secure home.

Inspect Your Roof

Getting your roof inspected before the winter season is crucial for several reasons. First, winter brings harsh weather conditions, including heavy snowfall, freezing temperatures, and ice accumulation. A roof that might have minor issues during other seasons can quickly turn into a major problem when subjected to the weight of snow and the expansion and contraction caused by freezing and thawing.

Inspections can identify any existing damage, such as cracked shingles or any signs of leakage. Timely repairs or replacements can prevent leaks and water damage inside your home, preserving its structural integrity.

So, a well-maintained roof ensures optimal insulation, keeping your home warm and energy-efficient during the colder months. By investing in a pre-winter roof inspection, you not only will protect your home, but also will potentially save on costly repairs that might be needed if problems are left unattended until after the winter season.

Fill in The Gaps

Filling gaps in your windows and doors before the winter season, and especially before a winter storm, is vital. These gaps, no matter how small they may seem, can allow cold drafts to seep into your home and cause the heat to escape. This leads to increased energy bills and reduced overall comfort.

By sealing these openings with weatherstripping materials or caulking, you create a barrier against chilly winds, keeping your home warm and cozy. Also, this simple yet effective measure helps in maintaining a consistent indoor temperature and keeps moisture from getting into your home.

If it snows and you have found gaps, the snow, ice, and water can enter into your home, causing enough damage for you to need water damage restoration services. If you don't act on it in a quick manner, this water damage can cause further issues like mold growth, structural problems, and more.

Test the Sump Pump

Testing your sump pump before the winter weather is essential when protecting your home and property from potential flooding and water damage. Winter often brings heavy rains and melting snow, increasing the risk of a basement flood.

A functional sump pump plays a crucial role in preventing water accumulation in your basement by pumping out excess water to the outdoors. Regular testing ensures that the pump is operational and ready to handle the increased water flow during the winter months.

If a problem is detected, you have ample time to repair or replace the pump before winter storms strike. Neglecting this simple maintenance task could lead to a basement flood, causing extensive damage to your property, valuable belongings, and even compromise the structural integrity of your home.

Clean Your Gutters

Cleaning your gutters before the winter weather is a crucial task that can save you from a host of potential problems. During the fall, leaves, twigs, and debris tend to accumulate in gutters, creating blockages. As winter arrives, these clogged gutters can prevent proper drainage, leading to water overflow.

In freezing temperatures, this trapped water can turn into ice dams, causing significant damage to your roof, siding, and foundation. By clearing out your gutters before winter, you ensure that the melting snow and ice have a clear pathway to flow away from your home.

Turn Off Outside Faucets

Turning off outside faucets before the winter season is essential to prevent water pipes from freezing and potentially bursting in the cold temperature. When water is left in the pipes, and faucets and pipes are exposed to the cold, it can expand and freeze, leading to cracks and leaks.

By shutting off the outside faucets and draining any remaining standing water off from the pipes, you eliminate the risk of water freezing inside and causing costly damage. It's also advisable to disconnect and store garden hoses, as they can trap water in the faucets even after you've turn them off.

Get Your Winter Supplies Ready

Preparing your home for the winter involves gathering essential supplies to ensure you and your family stay safe, warm, and comfortable. Here's a list of supplies you might need:

  • Heating Supplies: Ensure your heating system is in good working condition. Stock up on firewood, if applicable, and have your furnace serviced. Consider using space heaters as a backup but do not leave them unattended.
  • Emergency Kit: Prepare an emergency kit that includes flashlights, batteries, candles, a first aid kit, blankets, and non-perishable food items in case of power outages during a winter storm.
  • Winter Tools: Have snow shovels, ice melt, and snow blowers on hand to clear driveways and pathways.
  • Home Repair Supplies: Keep basic tools, duct tape, and sealant handy for minor repairs that might become necessary due to a winter storm. This will hold you over, and depending on the size of the storm damage, reaching out to SERVPRO for storm damage restoration services is key.

SERVPRO's Advanced Technology for Restoration Needs

10/19/2023 (Permalink)

When it comes to the restoration process of a home or a business, you need the best and most advanced technology to get the job done accurately and successfully. With that said, the past few decades has seen a rapid advancement in the technology and techniques in the restoration industry. These advancements allow SERVPRO of Hoboken/Union City professionals to restore a property back to preloss condition quickly, reliably, and more effectively.

The Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) sets practical standards for restoration cleaning. The IICRC S500 Water Damage Guide is a specific set of practical standards that incorporate the field of psychometry, which involves the manipulation of temperature and relative humidity to remove moisture and dry a property quickly and effectively.

With that said, let's get into the advanced equipment that SERVPRO Team Harvey uses during the restoration process of water damage.

Moisture Detection and Measurement Equipment

Scientific drying principles rely upon specialized equipment to detect, measure, and monitor a property's moisture levels. Recent advances like infrared cameras, can help us detect water through a wall, ceiling, or floor. These cameras may be used to identify water locations for a thorough water removal. Sensitive moisture detectors, hygrometers, and other meters measure the extent of moisture saturation.

Water Extraction Equipment

Powerful extraction equipment speeds the drying process by removing the bulk of the water from your home or business. Submersible and gas-powered pumps are used for continuous pumping of high-level water and truck-mounted and portable extraction units perform efficient water removal.

Drying Equipment

Industrial strength air movers and dehumidifiers are needed to remove the remaining water from ceilings, walls, and floors of your home or business. Proper drying helps to prevent swelling of warping floors, walls, and furniture. High-speed air movers cause moisture to evaporate at a faster pace and industrial grade dehumidifiers pull the water vapor from the air.

Odor Removal and Deodorization

Water and fire damage often causes powerful odors. The machines we use remove airborne contaminants and control the air quality during the restoration and cleanup process. We use air scrubbers and thermal foggers, as well as deodorization agents.

Sanitizing Agents, Germicides, and Antimicrobial Treatments

The use of OSHA-approved cleaning agents may be needed to clean and remove odors and/or contaminants on your property. We use deodorization products that control odors from water damage and disinfectant products to stop the growth of bacteria, fungi, mildew, mold, and other harmful microorganisms.

Water Damage Restoration

Whether you're dealing with plumbing issues that caused water damage, a bad storm that caused flooding, or any other reason that led to water in your home, we're here to help.
